Tackling climate change

Our sector has a huge role to play in tackling climate change and target a carbon neutral way of life. The UK’s Construction Leadership Council operates the UK’s Green Construction Board whose mission is to reduce carbon, waste and other impacts from the Built Environment, as energy from fossil fuels consumed in the construction and operation of buildings accounts for approximately half of the UK’s emissions of carbon dioxide.

Merlion Capital embrace this challenge and is constantly seeking ways to make our projects as sustainable as possible, not just in their construction, but also in their operation and use to attract and retain occupiers.

Merlion Capital and its subsidiaries recognise that it has a responsibility to the environment beyond legal and regulatory requirements.  We are committed to a sustainable future, and we seek to identify all environmental risks and opportunities associated with our business

Our environmental and sustainability commitments:

  • Support design activities that consider energy performance improvement.

  • Ensure that environmental issues are considered in planning our business and managing our operations

  • Sourcing environmentally friendly products and services for our operational bases

  • Providing green open spaces and trees within housing developments

  • Encouraging pedestrian and cycle access routes within developments

  • Promoting electric car usage by the provision of charging facilities

  • Mitigating and adapting to climate change

  • Eliminating waste and maximising resource efficiency

  • Embracing and restoring nature and promoting biodiversity

  • Optimising the health and wellbeing of people

  • Creating long-term value for society and improving quality of life

This policy is reviewed and updated regularly by the Directors to meet new business and legal requirements.
